What is the Age Calculator?

An age calculator answers a simple question with surprising precision: exactly how old are you right now? Beyond the number of candles on your cake, the exact figure matters for school enrollment cutoffs, insurance quotes, retirement planning, voting eligibility, and legal documents that ask for age in years and months.

Our calculator uses your date of birth and today's date to compute the difference the same way official records do — borrowing days and months where needed — so the result matches what you'd get counting on a calendar. It also tells you the day of the week you were born and counts down to your next birthday.

How to use this calculator

  1. Pick your date of birth using the date field.
  2. Click the Calculate Age button.
  3. Read your age in years, months, and days at the top of the results.
  4. Scroll for extras: total months, weeks, and days lived, plus your next-birthday countdown.
  5. Use the Clear button to reset and try another date.

Formula

How the math works: Age = today − date of birth. Years = difference in calendar years, then months and days are adjusted by “borrowing” (for example, if today is the 5th and you were born on the 20th, we borrow days from the previous month). Total days lived is the raw day count between the two dates.

Frequently asked questions

How is age calculated exactly?

We subtract your birth date from today's date using calendar arithmetic: full years first, then remaining months, then remaining days — borrowing from months and years when the day or month hasn't been reached yet this year.

What if I was born on February 29?

In non-leap years the calculator treats your birthday as February 28 for the day count, which is the common convention used by most official systems.

Does the calculator account for time zones?

It uses calendar dates (not times), so time zones don't affect the result. Your age in whole days is the same everywhere on Earth.

Can I use this for legal or official purposes?

The math matches standard chronological-age computation, but for legal matters always confirm with the issuing authority's own rules.
